Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says he experienced depression after falling out with Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese manager's time in charge at Old Trafford. The France player, 29, had a difficult relationship with Mourinho and lost the vice-captaincy in September 2018. Mourinho was sacked as United manager in December 2018. "I've experienced depression many times in my career, but you don't talk about it," he told La Figaro. "Sometimes, you don't know you're depressed, you only want to isolate yourself, be alone, and these are signs that don't deceive. "Personally, it started when I was with Jose Mourinho in Manchester. You ask yourself questions, wonder if you're at fault, because you have never lived moments like these in your life." Man Utd speak to Ajax coach Ten Hag Pogba re-joined United for a then-world record £89m in 2016, the same summer Mourinho succeeded Louis van Gaal as Red Devils boss. He helped United win the League Cup and Europa League in 2017 under the former Chelsea boss but their relationship soured at the start of the following season. Mourinho told Pogba he would never captain the side again under his management, reportedly because of concerns about his attitude, before he was sacked two months later after a run of poor results.
Paris St-Germain's dismal Ligue 1 defeat at Monaco was "unacceptable" and a "sporting shame" says manager Mauricio Pochettino. The runaway league leaders were second best throughout and deservedly fell to their heaviest defeat of the campaign. The result also brought up a fourth loss in their last six matches in all competitions. "The way we lost is not acceptable at this level of competition," Pochettino said. Wissam Ben Yedder scored twice for the hosts, flicking in a near-post cross and converting a late penalty as he moved two goals clear of PSG's Kylian Mbappe as the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 with 17 goals. In between, he created Monaco's second, with Kevin Volland turning his shot past the wrong-footed PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Pochettino clearly angered by the manner of his team's collapse. It also followed their recent exit in the last 16 of the Champions League, letting slip a 2-0 aggregate lead to lose 3-2 at Real Madrid. "We can't start a game the way we started this one," added Pochettino. "You have to get out of the frustration of elimination in the Champions League. You have to think about giving the best of yourself. "We lacked the fighting spirit against a team that wanted to react after being eliminated [from the Europa League]. "It's unacceptable to start the match like that. There is sporting shame. It can't be repeated. We can still lose matches, but what happened shouldn't - and can't happen again because it's serious. "The spirit and the performance must be collective. We must stop looking for excuses and finding pretexts."
Barcelona boss Xavi will not rule out a remarkable late push for the La Liga title after his side's thrashing of runaway leaders Real Madrid in a statement win at the Bernabeu. Real, who had won the previous five Clasicos, are nine points clear of Sevilla with nine matches to go, with third-placed Barcelona a further three behind with a game in hand. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice on his Clasico debut and set up Ferran Torres. Aubameyang and Ronald Araujo headed in crosses from Ousmane Dembele before the break and Aubayemang then flicked the ball into the path of Torres for their third. Ex-Arsenal striker Aubayemang chipped in a fourth from a Torres pass. Barca are now unbeaten in 12 games and Xavi said: "I don't know if we can win the title, we can't rule out anything. Maybe we're a bit late, but this is a very big win for us. "We were much better than Real Madrid. We played almost as a home team in the the ground. It's a day to enjoy, not only as a Barca manager but also a fan. "We could easily have scored five or six. We changed our negative dynamic of losing the last few Clasicos." Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets added: "If we still have a small chance to make a run for the title, we will fight until the end. It's very difficult but in football anything can happen. We are Barca."
